Urgent Appeal for Peckham High St Masjid

Asalaam walaikum my dearest of brothers & sisters,
I pray this beautiful and blessed month of Ramadan becomes a true means of nourishing and uplifting your spirit and soul. May Allah swt bless you in abundance x.

This year I’ve decided to fundraise for a cause that is closer to home, and mine and my families local place of worship. I present to you a beautiful opportunity to earn a multitude of reward from Allah swt as we approach the last 10 days of Ramadan.
This is an urgent appeal to renovate and build a place of worship in the heart of Peckham, South London.
The Peckham High Street Islamic & Cultural Centre has been providing a prayer place, activities and services for Muslims since 2009.
The place is overwhelmingly busy. There is a growing demand for more space to accommodate worshippers and its service users.

The African Ivorian Islamic trust, by the grace of Allah swt are in the process of buying the existing place. There is a desperate need as prayer spaces are cramped and conditions are not at the best they could be.
I have agreed to help fundraise so that the local community can have a place of worship and help sustain the Masjid.
This will be a sadaqah Jariyah for you and an opportunity for you to earn a beautiful reward.

Our beloved Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) said:
“Whoever builds the house of Allah, then Allah will surely build for them a house in Jannah” – Tirmidhi
May Allah swt reward you and increase the barakah in your provision and family Ameen
Please help me to raise this money so that this community can pray safely and peacefully, beautiful opportunity for us to earn our place in our ultimate destination of Jannah x
I love you all for the sake of Allah and pray that this month brings you closer to Allah swt

Seeking Lailatul Qadr or the Night of Decree

Laylatul Qadr, the Night of Decree or Night of Power, is one of the most sacred nights in the Islamic calendar. It takes place in the last ten days of Ramadan and was the night in which the Qur’an was revealed to the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him).

It is also believed to be the night in which Allah shows great mercy to His creation and the night in which one’s fate is decreed.

Allah says in the Qur’an, “The Night of Decree is better than a thousand months,” (Qur’an, 97:3). The Prophet (peace be upon him) said, “Whoever prays on Laylatul Qadr out of faith and sincerity, shall have all their past sins forgiven,” (Hadith, Bukhari and Muslim).

Sincerely praying for forgiveness, reciting the holy Qur’an, sending salawat (blessings upon the Prophet) and offering optional (nafl) prayers are examples of beneficial acts of worship on these nights.

The exact date of Laylatul Qadr is unknown, although it is thought to occur on an odd night in the last ten days of Ramadan (e.g. the 21st, 23rd, 25th, 27 or 29th night). The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said, “Seek it in the last ten days, on the odd nights,” (Hadith, Bukhari and Muslim).

When Lady Aisha (may Allah be well pleased with her) asked the Prophet (peace be upon him) “O Messenger of Allah, if it is Laylatul Qadr, then what should I supplicate with?” he replied with the famous dua: “Allahumma, innaka Afuwwun Karimun, tuḥibbu al-afwa fa‘afu anna” – “O Allah, indeed You are Pardoning and Generous; You love to pardon, so pardon us.”
